DIY Sectional Couch- Preliminary Plan

In my previous post, DIY to the Rescue!, I announced that I’m taking on the challenge of building my own custom sectional couch to fit our family room.

Using the plans I found over at buildsomething.com, Modern DIY Upholstered Couch, I’ve spent some time designing the modifications I want to make to the original plans. This is what I’ve come up with and, yes, it’s a monster!

Sectional

My preliminary estimate is running around $620.00 for supplies and materials. Miscellaneous expenses always pop up, so my goal is to keep this project under $650.00 (which, by the way, was the cost of the furniture store sectional that started this whole venture).

My goal will be to blog and vlog portions of this project. You will get to see the processes, pitfalls, on the fly adjustments and successes that come with building your own furniture. Once the sectional is complete, I’ll post my adjusted plans.

I’m looking forward to this build! It’s going to take some time, but I love the idea of building a custom piece of furniture that will last for many, many years!!!
